I personally think these devices are pieces of shit and when I did own an AR platform rifle didn’t use one. I don’t like them. Never have. Never will. They are “toys” with absolutely no value whatsoever in my mind. I literally hate that they exist.
What is important here is the precedence set by the rule. How it was handed down. Effectively, a decision, making thousands of people criminals overnight. “When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.” A long overused chest thumping phrase. Well guess what. Unless you “divest” yourself of your bump stock, you have become an outlaw.
This should scare the living fuck out of everyone. Not just bump stock owners, or gun owners. EVERYONE. With the movement of one instrument, this bumbling asswipe of a president, and his cohorts, have moved us immeasurably closer to a totalitarian dictatorship that any president has ever done before. More than Clinton, more than Obama and even more than Bush and the Patriot Act.
If this doesn’t scare you get out of my life. I want nothing to do with you. Our only hope is a successful legal challenge, of which many have already been filed.
And for the rest of you who so strongly support the NRA? How’s that working out for you now?
On December 18, 2018, Acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker announced that the Department of Justice has amended the regulations of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), clarifying that bump stocks fall within the definition of “machinegun” under federal law, as such devices allow a shooter of a semiautomatic firearm to initiate a continuous firing cycle with a single pull of the trigger.
