30 years ago, when I was teaching in the military, we were presenting a course based on The Deming Management Method. There were several principles of this that I still use today in my work as well as my personal life. I’ve even seen some memes on Facebook that refer to it, even if the maker of the meme has NO IDEA what the basis is.
“Treat the janitor just like you treat the CEO.” You may have seen it.
FedEX was one of the poster children for this management mindset. Everything FedEX touched, went through their Memphis hub before being dispatched to the destination. Every parcel went to Memphis where it was handled in the most efficient manner possible before being moved.
I don’t know what happened at FedEX but they are quite possibly the most disorganized, screwed up, back ass organization who can’t seem to move a parcel across your office much less across our country without some sort of major malfunction.
I was involved in a discussion recently, where a manufacturer asked about the best “shipper” to use. To a respondent, they all said “UPS”. United Parcel Service. The stories and complaints about how FedEX operates were storied, most compared FedEX to USPS. Which is horrible. Or worse.
Get your shit together.
